After she took her shoes off, she hurried down the concrete stairs in her socks to go play on the gym floor. After she went by me, I noticed something, and then felt different about the staircase. This cold, grey concrete staircase seemed a bit warmer now – and had me drawn to it. I moved a bit closer.

What I noticed was, indeed, the most perfect tiny footprints. And if I didn’t see her run down them just the moment previous, I would have thought they had just been left by a magical elf, or fairy of sorts, who had quickly scurried down them, each foot gently kissing each stair, before vanishing away. Simply, there was something very angelic about these markings.

As I fixated on her foot-traces, they slowly began to fade. And when they completely disappeared, the staircase turned cold, grey, and concrete again.
