Now, days after this outing, I still reminisce about a different aspect of this trip every time I wash my hands, tie my shoe, or have some other reason to look down at the scar on my thumb. Whether it be remembering when the two girls went running to the next room when the guide took the python out of the cage, or remembering how the hamburger was bigger than one boy’s face when he tried to take a bite of it – I will always be thankful to the baboon that clawed my thumb when I tried to feed it a peanut.

He took her son (Lebanese) on the back of the toy truck while he drove it. They were zooming all over the playground together as we wrapped up with the event. The boys seemed so happy together, completely oblivious to any uneasiness of past historical events they probably wouldn’t even be taught about for many years on even. I told her to remind him about this moment, when he grows up – about the time he had befriended a Palestinian boy on the playground, driving around all the tight corners and through all the obstacles together. This moment epitomized everything I want this project to be about.
